Sam's first heart operation is called a "Shunt". This is closed heart surgery and replaces the duct between the lung and body arteries present in all babies whilst in the womb.

How our Doctor could tell anything from these scans we will never know his department should soon be getting a newer machine, hopefully one with a better resolution. They basically show the heart from various angles, the red lines are where our Doctor tried to explain what he could see
